Camera Operator & Videographer in Belfast

Experienced, broadcast camera operator with Sony A7S III Kit

A marina at dusk filled with numerous docked boats and sailboats, with reflections on calm water and houses on a hill in the background. Captured by Belfast camera operator Lloyd Edgar

I have broadcast credits across BBC, Channel 5, RTÉ, TG4 and Channel 4.

I work on documentary, drama-doc, factual entertainment, Irish-language broadcast television, brand and commercial productions.

I own a Sony A7S III, with a full professional lens kit, lighting and sound.

My Approach

Most of my shooting work is observational documentary — staying out of the way, responding to character and moment, lighting tastefully where needed, and capturing scenes that hold up in the edit.

I bring a director's eye to camera, which means I can be trusted to make framing and coverage decisions on the fly when a producer or director isn't watching the monitor.

Common Questions About Camera Operation

How much does it cost to hire a camera operator in Belfast? Day rates for a broadcast-experienced cinematographer in Northern Ireland typically range from £400 to £750 depending on kit, deliverables and crew configuration. Half-day and multi-day rates are also available.

Do you provide your own camera kit? Yes. My standard package includes a Sony FX6, Sony A7S III, full lens kit, lighting, sound, gimbal, tripod and a drone (DJI Mini 4 Pro). See the full equipment list. For larger productions I can spec and source additional kit through trusted Belfast rental houses.

Can you operate as a second camera or multi-cam shoot? Yes — I regularly work as A-cam, B-cam or part of a multi-camera setup. I'm used to slotting into broadcast workflows and matching to whatever camera and look the production is built around.

Do you travel for shoots outside Northern Ireland? Yes. I travel regularly around the world for different projects - my work has taken me to England, Germany, Italy, Japan and America.

Are you insured? Yes, I carry full Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance, and my equipment is comprehensively insured for theft, damage and loss in transit. Insurance certificates available on request.

Are you a registered drone pilot? Yes. I fly a DJI Mini 4 Pro (the sub-250g category means simplified operational requirements in UK and Irish airspace), and I follow CAA / IAA flight rules including permission-to-fly checks for restricted airspace and built-up areas. I can provide aerial footage in 4K 60fps and 10-bit D-Log for broadcast.

Hire Me as a Camera Operator

I'm available for single-camera and second-camera shooting commissions across the UK and Ireland.

I bring my own broadcast-spec kit (A7S III, full lens set, sound, lights), drive to and from locations, and travel readily for multi-day shoots.
